Wake up And Support others Organization (WASO) is a registered non-Governmental organization with its Head Quarters in Temeke Municipal. It is a non-profit making organization registered as NGO with Registration No. 00NGO/R1/0053.
WASO partnered with FHI360 to implement EpiC Project, the HIV prevention project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) which is dedicated to achieving and maintaining HIV epidemic control.
WASO is therefore seeking competent, experienced, dynamic and qualified candidate to fill the position below.
Job Title: Community Engagement Officer (CEO)
Project councils: Temeke and Kigamboni Municipalities
Agreement: One year Contract
Line Manager: Program Manager
Vacant post: 1 Post
Job Objective: The CEO will support field level interventions such as demand generation, GBV etc. S/he will daily support/mentor/Supervise the deployed Peer Educators (PEs) and Peer Mobilisers (PMs) in all project wards. S/he will be required to collaborate with the technical team members to provide technical assistance on the provision of Key and Priority (PP) Populations – focused on HIV prevention, HIV Testing Services (HTS), Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) services, HIV Self-Testing (HST), Family Planning (FP), Gender Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response and linkage to Care and Treatment Services. This includes provision of guidance, monitoring and technical assistance on biomedical services to government/ certified health providers to both project councils of Kigamboni and Temeke in Dar Es Salaam region.
Main duties and Responsibilities:
- In close coordination with the Biomedical officer, conduct field supportive supervision to peers
- Provide support in terms of mentorship to peers conducting demand creation
- In close coordination with the Program Manager the field officer will identify and take lead in the mobilization and sensitization of target communities for community dialogue
- Coordinate and participate in workshops, peer trainings, meetings
- Receive and organize daily reports from peers and share with your line manager
- Manage and coordinate daily electronic field data reporting by peers
- Work collaboratively with other project team member to ensure necessary program planning , development , resource availability and management of activities function smoothly and efficiently
- Engage with and provide technical and program input to WASO partners
- Supervision of peers to ensure completion of work plans and troubleshooting of challenges
- Work with key stakeholders in such strategic activities as coordination ,policy meetings and technical working group
- Coordinate the distribution of social and behavior change communication support materials and ensure the documentation of all social and behavior change Communication processes
- Providing technical advice for the development and implementation of behavior change communication tools, materials and systems
- Plan and support local meetings with community ,religious, political and government leader
- Prepare and submit weekly updates, monthly activities reports and quarterly reports in quality and timely manner with active participation in monthly review meetings and trainings
- Ensure accurate data collection on community dialogue and act on data analysis to ensure based changes are implemented
- Identify and work with implementing partners , NGOs, CBOs, communities etc to produce or adapt related job aids
- Work collaboratively with other project team members to ensure necessary program planning, development, resource availability and management activities function smoothly and efficiently
- Contributing to timely and appropriate reporting
Education and Experience:
Qualification: Bachelor Degree in Health or Social sciences (eg: Social work, Sociology, Development studies, Community Development, or Community/Public health)
Working Experience:
- At least 2 years’ experience in Community work -HIV prevention program implementation that includes HIV prevention, care and treatment (required), HIV counseling and testing services, and Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH).
- Knowledge of health and program development in Tanzania including familiarity with the national Key and Vulnerable Population (KVP), youth and gender guidelines, standards and
- Experience in programs serving KVP and addressing gender Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and sound understanding of the needs of KVP and other vulnerable groups.
- Experience in working with LGA, NGOs, CBOs and health facilities to implement public health projects, especially those working with vulnerable
- Ability to manage tight deadlines and deliver high quality of work with minimal supervision.
- A high degree of proficiency in written and spoken English and Swahili.
- Well-developed computer
