The National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR), in collaboration with Rigshospitalet (Denmark) and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (UK), is implementing the PHOTON and DIMENSION trials at the Muhimbili Research Centre. Applications are invited from qualified Tanzanians to fill 7 open positions.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Logistics Management, or Business Management (Procurement). Must be registered with PSPTB.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of project procurement experience in a public research or academic health institution. Hands-on experience using the National e-procurement system of Tanzania (NeST) is required.
Key Role: Support project procurement processes, enforce compliance with national/institutional regulations, and manage laboratory supplies and equipment acquisition.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or Business Administration (Accounting/Finance).
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of financial management experience on projects within a public research, academic, or health institution. Experience using electronic systems like MUSE is required.
Key Role: Prepare budgets, process payments, maintain accounting records, prepare financial reports, and ensure compliance with donor and national regulations.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Human Resource Management, HR Planning, Industrial Relations, or Business Administration (HRM).
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of administrative experience working specifically on NIMR projects.
Key Role: Assist with recruitment, maintain personnel records, validate payroll, draft employment contracts, coordinate staff training, and support performance monitoring.
Qualifications: Medical Degree (MD) plus a Master’s Degree in Epidemiology, Clinical Trials, or Public Health. Must be licensed by the Tanganyika Medical Council.
Publication Track Record: Must have published at least 4 quantitative research articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in health research, with proven experience coordinating cluster-randomized trials, achieving high recruitment, and maintaining strong participant retention rates.
Key Role: Lead trial coordination across preparation, implementation, and dissemination phases while managing internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications: Medical Degree (MD) plus a Master’s Degree in Epidemiology, Clinical Trials, or Public Health. Must be licensed by the Tanganyika Medical Council.
Publication Track Record: Must have published at least 2 quantitative research articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of health research experience in clinical trial coordination.
Key Role: Participate in trial implementation, participant recruitment, intervention administration, outcome assessment, and community/stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of clinical data management experience. Advanced proficiency in REDCap database development and strong Python programming skills are required. Familiarity with SQL, Excel, and R/Stata is advantageous.
Key Role: Design and validate REDCap databases/eCRFs, write Python automation scripts for participant scheduling, maintain GCP compliance, and prepare analysis-ready datasets.
Note: This is an academic research attachment under the DIMENSION study, not an employment position with NIMR. The fellow is expected to register at a recognized local university and complete the PhD within 36 months.
Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Mental Health, Psychiatry, or a related field. Must have at least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal resulting from their Master’s degree or scientific work.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of health research experience with intermediate-to-advanced quantitative skills (Stata or R).
