Underwriting Officer – Agriculture
Job Location: Dar es Salaam
Deadline: October 31st, 2025
Role Summary
The role will be responsible for leading the technical underwriting function for agriculture insurance products by assessing risks, developing appropriate pricing models, and ensuring sound underwriting decisions that align with the Company’s risk appetite and profitability objectives.
Responsibilities
- Assess and underwrite insurance applications for agricultural clients, including crops, livestock, and agri-business operations.
- Evaluate risk exposure, analyze farm data, weather patterns, pest/disease risk, and other relevant factors.
- Determine appropriate premium rates, coverage limits, and policy terms.
- Ensure compliance with underwriting manuals, reinsurance treaties, and regulatory requirements.
- Support the development of new agricultural insurance products in line with market needs.
- Collaborate with claims and sales teams to manage portfolio performance.
- Stay updated on agricultural trends and regulatory requirements.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
- At least three years of experience.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Insurance will be an added advantage.
