Job Purpose
The Truck Driver is responsible for operating company trucks and heavy-duty vehicles to transport goods safely and punctually to designated destinations. Based out of Kariakoo, Dar es Salaam, this position conducts pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, maintains trip logs, assists with loading/offloading when necessary, and strictly adheres to national traffic laws and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Safe Vehicle Operation & Delivery:
Safely operate heavy-duty trucks (e.g., HOWO, Scania, MAN, trailers) to haul goods and materials on schedule.
Select optimal travel routes to avoid traffic congestion, roadwork, and potential transport delays.
Ensure the security, safe handling, and proper tie-down of cargo during transit.
Vehicle Care & Pre-Trip Checks:
Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to check fluids, tires, brakes, and safety equipment.
Identify basic mechanical faults and report servicing needs promptly to the technical workshop.
Assist with loading and offloading materials as required.
Compliance & Documentation:
Maintain precise logs of trips, vehicle movements, delivery receipts, and fuel consumption.
Strictly obey all Tanzanian road safety laws, speed limits, and corporate transport policies.
Candidate Qualifications & Requirements
License & Experience:
Driving License: Mandatory Valid Driving License Class E and Class D.
Work Experience: Minimum of 2 to 5 years of proven experience as a truck or heavy-duty vehicle driver.
Fleet Familiarity: Practical experience driving large commercial vehicles such as HOWO, Scania, MAN, heavy trailers, or similar heavy-duty trucks.
Added Advantage: Background in long-distance or commercial haulage transportation.
Personal Attributes & Competencies:
Comprehensive understanding of road safety rules, traffic laws, and basic vehicle maintenance.
High level of integrity, reliability, discipline, and commitment to safeguarding company property.
Physically fit and capable of managing heavy driving routines and logistics demands.
Good interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
