Duties and Responsibilities

The Technician II (Electro-mechanical) will be responsible for supporting maintenance, servicing, inspection, and repair activities for railway electro-mechanical systems, including electric and diesel locomotives.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

• Carrying out routine inspections and servicing based on maintenance plans for both electric and diesel locomotives.
• Replacing worn components, servicing rotating equipment, cleaning filters, checking lubrication, and verifying the condition of wiring and connectors.
• Diagnosing faults reported from operations, including:
  • No traction
  • Reduced power
  • Overheating
  • Abnormal alarms
  • Start or stop issues
• Servicing refrigeration and air conditioning facilities.
• Performing insulation checks, continuity checks, terminal inspection and cleaning, crimping or soldering as per procedure, and cable replacement or repair.
• Assisting the supervisor in maintaining records.
• Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess one of the following qualifications:

• Full Technician Certificate (FTC); or
• Ordinary Diploma, NTA Level 6.

The qualification should be in one of the following fields:

• Locomotive Engineering Technology
• Electro-Mechanical Engineering
• An equivalent qualification from a recognized institution

Remuneration

Successful candidates will be paid according to the TRC salary scale:

• TRCS 3
