Position Overview:
The Supply Chain Planning & Logistics Lead will oversee end-to-end supply chain activities, including demand forecasting, procurement(managing purchase orders in compliance with company procurement policies), vendor management(sourcing suppliers), and logistics coordination(timely delivery of inventories). This role is pivotal in supporting the company’s aggressive growth trajectory by ensuring materials, equipment, and assets are available when needed, at the right cost, and in compliance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and a strong communicator with a solid understanding of supply chain planning and management..
Roles and Responsibilities
Supply Chain Planning:
Develop and maintain demand forecasts aligned with project timelines and business growth targets.
Create and execute supply chain strategies that support scalability and flexibility.
Coordinate cross-functional planning with project, engineering, and operations teams.
Prepare periodic (weekly, monthly, quarterly etc.) Supply Chain management and ad hoc reports.
Procurement Management:
Lead procurement processes for local purchases on equipment, materials, critical to business growth and operations.
Effective selection and management of suppliers/vendors to achieve the Jaza strategic objectives.
Informs other staff and vendors regarding procedural requirements (e.g. ordering and purchasing procedures.) for facilitating the purchasing process with established practices.
Ensuring that goods/services procured are in compliance with all Jaza procurement policy.
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure reliable sourcing.
Negotiate contracts, prices, and delivery terms to optimize cost and quality.
Maintains purchasing documents, files and records (e.g. Requests for Proposal, vendor files, etc.) for ensuring the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines.
Logistics & Distribution:
Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with freight providers & Oversee transportation, warehousing, and distribution logistics to ensure timely delivery.
Optimize shipping routes, modes, and inventory storage to reduce costs and lead times.
Manage customs, clearance, and compliance requirements for international shipments if applicable.
Ensure proper documentation for international shipments (e.g., customs clearance, bills of lading). & Resolve shipping issues or delays.
Oversee inventory and stock level accuracy with warehouse teams.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management:
Evaluate and onboard suppliers, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and sustainability standards.
Monitor supplier performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Data & Analytics:
Utilize data to track KPIs such as lead times, inventory levels, procurement cycle times, and overall supply chain efficiency.
Identify risks and develop mitigation plans for supply disruptions.
Reviews documents and data (e.g. incoming requisitions, past purchases, reconciliations, PO’s, inventories, etc.) for ensuring completeness and accuracy of the purchasing process.
Process Improvement & Automation:
Collaborate with Software teams to Implement scalable processes and systems to support rapid growth.
Leverage technology to automate procurement and logistics workflows.
Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure supply chain activities comply with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.
Develop contingency plans for supply chain disruptions.
Understand all Tanzania regulatory requirements that apply to the importation of goods and locally sourced services.

Strong track record of building and maintaining solid relationships with both internal and external customers and vendors
Self-motivated, able to work both independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests as well as collaborating with others to utilize resources and knowledge in identifying high quality solutions
Strong IT skills for presentation, analysis, as well as internet search skills
