SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator)
Isamilo International School, Mwanza
Isamilo International School invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator).
This is a key leadership role responsible for coordinating and overseeing the provision of support for students with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) across the school.
Key responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Lead and coordinate the school’s SEND provision in line with school policy and international best practice.
- Identify students requiring additional support and coordinate appropriate interventions.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other appropriate support strategies.
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure effective support for learners.
- Provide guidance and training to staff on inclusive teaching strategies and classroom differentiation.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate SEND records and documentation.
- Advise the Senior Leadership Team on SEND matters, policy development, and compliance.
- Promote an inclusive learning environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and personal development of all learners.
Qualifications and experience
Candidates must have:
- A bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field. This is mandatory.
- A recognised teaching qualification and valid professional registration.
- A minimum of three years’ teaching experience, with proven experience supporting learners with SEND.
- A strong understanding of inclusive education practices and intervention strategies.
The following will be highly desirable or considered an added advantage:
- An additional qualification or certification in Special Educational Needs, Inclusive Education, Educational Psychology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated leadership, coordination, or learning-support experience.
- Experience working in an international school or within the Cambridge International Curriculum.
