Job Summary
The Relationship Manager: Agribusiness will be responsible for growing the agribusiness book through new business acquisition, processing and assessing agribusiness credit applications from branches, preparing proposals for agribusiness development, and ensuring the booking of quality agribusiness loans.
Key Accountabilities
1. Business Growth
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving agribusiness growth and creating value through the identification and development of new commercial engagements.
Main Responsibilities
- Drive agribusiness growth and value by identifying and developing new commercial opportunities.
- Liaise with key stakeholders, including clients, government institutions, and other financial institutions, to ensure the bank’s interests are properly represented and safeguarded.
- Work with branch and Head Office teams to support the growth of the agribusiness portfolio.
- Collaborate with other related departments within the bank to implement approved agribusiness deals and propositions.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of Tanzania’s agriculture sector, farmers’ needs, and broader agriculture value chain financing requirements.
- Develop business cases and proposals, and monitor portfolio development.
- Update and advise clients on agribusiness product pricing and fees.
- Provide leadership in strategy development.
- Supervise and guide branch teams in the management of stressed assets.
2. Product Development
The role requires close collaboration with the Product Development team to support the creation, improvement, and monitoring of agribusiness products.
Main Responsibilities
- Work with the Product Development team to develop new agribusiness products.
- Develop and maintain the agribusiness product catalogue.
- Monitor the effectiveness of agribusiness products by reviewing relevant monthly product reports.
- Collaborate with the Product team to review and advise on agribusiness product pricing periodically, ensuring products remain competitive in the market.
3. Risk Management
The Relationship Manager will be expected to support risk management by ensuring compliance, monitoring loan performance, and responding to audit-related matters.
Main Responsibilities
- Respond to queries related to agribusiness and provide all necessary information required during internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with agribusiness guidelines in all engagements.
- Monitor the performance of agribusiness loans on a monthly basis.
- Advise branches on prompt actions to be taken in delinquent cases.
- Work closely with branches to ensure adherence to all terms and conditions of approved loans.
Education and Experience Required
Applicants should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- A first degree or equivalent qualification in one of the following fields:
- Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness
- Business Administration
- Banking and Finance
- Any other related field
- At least five years of experience in agricultural financing.
- Strong experience in agribusiness value chain financing and applied models.
- Good deal-making, deal-structuring, and collaboration experience.
- Proven ability to negotiate business arrangements and transform them into strategic approaches.
