Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST)

Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST) was established through the transformation of the Mbeya Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) under the Universities Act No. 7 (2005) and the University Charter of 2013. The institution aims to be a leading center of excellence in knowledge, skills, and applied education in science and technology.

MUST invites qualified and dynamic Tanzanian candidates to apply for the following vacancies:

Available positions

1. Radio technician II (1 post)

Duties and responsibilities

  • Maintain all broadcasting and office equipment
  • Inspect equipment and conduct performance checks in line with TCRA regulations
  • Monitor signal fidelity
  • Supervise installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of MUST FM radio equipment
  • Initiate orders for repair and replacement of equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned by relevant authorities

Qualifications

  • Form IV or Form VI certificate with passes in English, Kiswahili, or any foreign language
  • Diploma (minimum 2 years) in Journalism, Mass Communication, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of graphics, photography, photo editing, and video shooting
  • Strong computer skills

Remuneration

  • PGSS 5

Tenure

  • One-year contract (renewable)

2. Journalist II (1 post)

Duties and responsibilities

  • Gather, write, and edit news stories
  • Prepare scripts, continuities, and broadcast programs
  • Report and comment on current affairs for radio and television
  • Conduct interviews with public figures and at press events
  • Write editorials and edit submitted materials
  • Develop advertising copy for products and services
  • Prepare publicity materials for broadcast media
  • Provide technical and professional support to junior journalists
  • Monitor cub reporters and researchers
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of word processing, graphics, photography, photo editing, and video shooting (added advantage)
  • Strong computer skills

Remuneration

  • PGSS 6

Tenure

  • One-year contract (renewable)

3. Admission assistant (4 posts)

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist in handling incoming calls within and outside the exchange
  • Support connection of calls and communication routing
  • Receive and direct calls to appropriate offices
  • Assist in receiving and guiding applicants
  • Maintain records of incoming and outgoing calls
  • Manage applicant register book
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent

Remuneration

  • PGSS 4

Tenure

  • Six-month contract (renewable)

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens
  • Age limit:
    • Radio Technician II and Journalist II: not above 45 years
    • Admission Assistant: not above 35 years
