Job Description

NMB Bank Plc is recruiting for three positions covering card finance, wholesale credit assessment and mortgage financing. The vacancies include two Head Office roles and one position based at Northern Zone, Hq, with application closing dates between 17 and 24 September 2026.

The opportunities require professionals with backgrounds in banking, finance, accounting, economics, business administration and related fields. Analyst; Card Finance

Role overview

The Analyst; Card Finance is responsible for supporting card business operations through financial reporting, performance analysis, budgeting, forecasting and business insights. The position contributes to strategic decision-making and the sustainable profitability of the card business.

Main responsibilities

  • Analyse card revenues, network fees, interchange income and card-related expenses to support profitability management.
  • Assess profitability across products, customer segments and business lines.
  • Support business cases for new card products and enhancements to existing products.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities across card business operations.
  • Monitor internal accounts for targeted card income, abnormal losses and expenses, while maintaining controls against revenue leakage and operational losses.
  • Extract, validate, analyse and interpret card business data to identify trends, anomalies, risks and business opportunities.
  • Develop insights and recommendations from card portfolio performance.
  • Review vendor and card-scheme invoices, validate fees and charges, and initiate payment processing.
  • Prepare reports and support internal and external audits with accurate financial and operational information.

Knowledge and skills

Candidates should have knowledge of banking operations, card schemes, card product lifecycles and financial analysis. Familiarity with banking systems, card management systems and databases is also required. 

The role requires an understanding of regulatory requirements affecting card and payment businesses, including debit, credit, prepaid and virtual card products. Candidates should understand card transaction lifecycles, settlement processes, chargebacks, disputes and card-scheme operations.

Advanced ability in PowerPoint, Excel, SQL and reconciliation tools is required, together with strong data analysis, interpretation, report-writing and presentation skills. Candidates should also be able to extract, manipulate, validate and analyse information from multiple sources.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Economics, computer science or related fields.
  • CPA, ACCA or an equivalent professional qualification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ banking experience, preferably in Card Business, Finance, Reconciliation or Financial Analysis.
  • Experience using SQL for data extraction, reporting, reconciliation and analysis is preferred.

Senior Manager; Credit Assessment

Role overview

The Senior Manager; Credit Assessment will lead the Wholesale Credit Assessment team and oversee the assessment, administration, monitoring and reporting of the bank’s credit risk. The position is responsible for maintaining credit quality while supporting a sustainably profitable Wholesale Credit portfolio. 

Main responsibilities

  • Lead the Wholesale Credit Assessment team in reviewing, approving or rejecting credit applications and assessing business and financial risks.
  • Maintain high standards of credit quality through effective assessment, sampling and application of credit best practices.
  • Advise the Head; Wholesale Credit on actual or potential changes in borrower or sector risk profiles and recommend appropriate mitigation or remedial action.
  • Analyse counterparty and issuer risk involving individuals, sovereigns, financial institutions, corporates and non-bank financial institutions.
  • Participate as required in Credit Committees, Watchlist Forums & Committee, IFRS9 and Board Credit Committee activities.
  • Work with front-office teams to identify and mitigate credit risks early and ensure transactions are structured to protect the bank against credit losses.
  • Work with Wholesale Credit, Wholesale Client Origination and Wholesale Business Unit leadership to improve operational processes and manage risk.
  • Lead, develop, coach and manage departmental staff, including performance contracting, reviews and appraisals.
  • Develop models for measuring Value at Risk, including default probability, loss given default and rating migration.
  • Support preparation and presentation of credit approval packs and requests to Credit Committees.
  • Review pricing against relevant policies and defend the unit’s credit opinions before Credit Committees.
  • Develop credit-risk measurement methodologies and internal assessment models for product-related credit risks.
  • Oversee compliance with consumer-protection requirements, credit policies and procedures.
  • Lead credit audit assignments concerning the wholesale portfolio involving the  Bank of Tanzania and external auditors, ensuring audit issues are addressed promptly.
  • Work on data clean-up and reporting matters involving CRB, BoT, internal and external audit findings.
  • Support proactive management of IFRS 9 impairments and key metrics including PAR, NPL and ECL.
  • Participate in system developments and testing to ensure required credit functionalities are properly embedded.

Knowledge and skills

The position requires knowledge of special asset management, business law, wholesale and retail credit analysis, structured transactions and syndications.

Important behavioural capabilities include leadership of change, adaptability, coaching, delegation and employee performance management.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Law, Economics or related fields.
  • Master’s degree in business studies is an added advantage.
  • Postgraduate education in Banking and/or Banking certification is an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in Credit Management, preferably in wholesale or large corporates, with leadership experience in medium to large organisations.

Senior Relationship Manager; Mortgage Financing

Role overview

The Senior Relationship Manager; Mortgage Financing will lead and coordinate the performance of zone Relationship Managers – Mortgage while directly originating, structuring and closing high-value and complex mortgage transactions. 

The role is accountable for mortgage portfolio growth, revenue, pipeline conversion, customer experience and asset quality across the assigned zones. It also involves developing strategic referral partnerships and coordinating timely end-to-end delivery.

Main responsibilities

  • Translate mortgage strategy, annual budgets and growth priorities into execution across the assigned areas.
  • Lead, coach and manage Relationship Managers through target allocation, deal support and performance management.
  • Review sales pipelines, activity, lead conversion, productivity and forecasts, and address performance gaps.
  • Maintain a personal pipeline of high-value mortgage opportunities involving executives, diaspora clients, property investors and other priority segments.
  • Lead customer discovery, financial-needs assessment, proposal development, facility structuring, pricing negotiation and credit submissions.
  • Coordinate with Credit, Legal, Valuation, Credit Administration, Operations, Insurance and Branches to resolve transaction bottlenecks.
  • Review mortgage applications for quality and completeness.
  • Develop strategic referral relationships with property developers, agents, valuers, lawyers, employers, professional bodies and other partners.
  • Collaborate with Zones, Branches, Corporate Banking, Commercial and Business Banking, Private banking, Digital and Marketing teams to strengthen lead generation and mortgage campaigns.
  • Drive mortgage disbursement, portfolio growth, revenue, yield, fees, insurance income and customer wallet-share performance.
  • Protect portfolio quality and analyse customer needs, competitor activity, market trends and channel performance.
  • Prepare management information, pipeline reports, forecasts, performance insights and business proposals.
  • Ensure mortgage sales and relationship-management activities comply with credit policy, KYC/AML, consumer protection, fraud prevention, operational risk, regulatory and audit requirements.

Knowledge and skills

Candidates should understand mortgage and housing-finance products, customer segments, distribution channels and market dynamics. The position also requires knowledge of credit appraisal, affordability and cash-flow assessment, Debt Service Ratio, facility structuring and pricing. 

Applicants should understand property valuation, Loan-to-Value assessment, collateral, land ownership, legal perfection and insurance requirements, as well as mortgage portfolio economics, asset quality and arrears management.

Strong leadership, coaching, sales management, high-value business origination, negotiation, credit judgement and complex transaction structuring skills are required. Candidates should also demonstrate executive-level relationship management, partnership development, pipeline management, forecasting, portfolio analysis and advanced Microsoft Excel/reporting capability.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Real Estate Finance or a related field.
  • A relevant professional qualification or training in mortagage finance, credit, risk management, sales leadership or financial analysis is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in banking or financial services, including at least 3 years in mortgage finance, secured lending, relationship management or asset sales.
  • Demonstrable track record of originating, structuring and closing high-value or complex mortgage transactions while maintaining sound credit quality.
  • At least 2 years’ experience leading, supervising or coordinating Relationship Managers or a distributed sales team against defined business targets.
