Duties and responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for locomotive driving and shunting duties within assigned railway areas. Duties will include:

• Performing shunting duties within station yards, sidings, and running depots within the home station.
• Checking locomotive fitness before use.
• Reporting any problem noted in the locomotive during the course of driving.
• Recording all important events occurring during shunting.
• Recording the fuel balance at the start and at the end of shunting duties.
• Performing any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and experience

Applicants must possess the following qualifications:

• Holder of a Form IV academic certificate.
• Locomotive Driving Certificate or Locomotive Shunting Certificate offered by TIRTEC or any recognized institution.
• Class F or G Driving License.
