The AGA Africa Business Unit is seeking experienced and self-motivated individuals to join its Human Resources team.
The Opportunity
As the Culture & Capability Manager for the AngloGold Ashanti Africa Business Unit, you will play a pivotal role in managing the planning, design, development, and delivery of progressive culture, capability, learning, and Inclusion, Diversity & Equity (IDE) programs across the Africa Region.
This role requires adapting and contextualizing global HR initiatives to suit the regional context while ensuring alignment with local realities and business strategy. The successful candidate will help foster a vibrant organizational culture that drives employee engagement and strengthens workforce capability.
The role is accountable for a comprehensive portfolio of organizational development and capability initiatives, including:
- Talent Management
- Career Development
- Pipeline Planning
- Learning and Development
- Training
- Inclusion, Diversity & Equity
The Culture & Capability Manager will strategically develop people capabilities and cultivate an organizational environment that supports business success. The role will focus on building and retaining distinctive capabilities, enhancing workplace culture, advancing inclusion and diversity priorities, and strengthening the Employee Value Proposition (EVP) to deepen employee engagement and recognition across the region.
Key Accountabilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Develop the annual budget and work plan for the Culture and Capability Department, setting realistic and accurate expectations with business stakeholders.
- Prepare the annual training and development calendar and annual project plans with leadership and stakeholder buy-in.
- Provide expert business advice on improvement initiatives that build organizational capability, including talent pooling, succession planning, culture, employee engagement, and IDE.
- Manage advice provided to managers and employees on matters affecting workplace culture, team dynamics, and individual performance.
- Develop coaching, mentoring, and secondment programs.
- Manage structured talent and development processes.
- Develop frameworks and processes for leadership and skills development to ensure a pipeline of skills that supports the company’s business strategy.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Actively coach and support Business Unit leaders on the implementation of talent, learning and development, and IDE processes and tools.
- Strategically map learning and development, talent, and IDE needs for Regional Leaders and critical skills roles.
- Align learning and development needs with talent pooling and an appropriate development curriculum.
- Provide strategic workforce planning and pipelining support to ensure the business has the leadership and management skills required to meet future challenges.
- Consider current and projected future business needs when developing workforce plans.
- Offer learning and capability consultancy and implementation services to line management and HR.
- Ensure integration of best-practice methods into relevant learning and capability solutions.
- Provide guidance on translating business requirements into learning and capability needs.
- Manage learning interventions that mitigate people-related risk factors.
- Establish integration points for Learning and Capability, Talent, and IDE with all other HR components within the Business Unit employee life cycle.

Qualifications, Certifications and Professional Membership
Applicants should have the following qualifications and professional credentials:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- Recognized professional HR certification, such as:
- Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) – Level 5 or Level 7
- Society for Human Resource Management certification, such as SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP
- Human Resource Certification Institute certification, such as PHR or SPHR
- Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners certification, where regionally applicable
Applicants should also have membership with a recognized professional HR body, such as:
- CIPD, including Associate or Chartered Membership such as Assoc CIPD, MCIPD, or FCIPD
- SHRM Membership
- Relevant national HR professional body, such as the Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners or equivalent
Additional certifications in any of the following areas will be an advantage:
- Organizational Development or Culture Transformation
- Change Management, such as Prosci or ADKAR
- Leadership Development or Coaching
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, also referred to as DEI or IDE
Experience and Skills
Applicants should have the following experience and skills:
- At least 10 years’ experience in Human Resources, Learning and Development, or Talent-related work.
- Extensive experience in adult learning, training design, and training delivery.
- Experience managing teams and developing team members.
- Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, and delivering projects from end to end.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to partner with others to influence change at various levels within the business.
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders at all levels within the business.
- Ability to represent AngloGold Ashanti externally.
- Strong interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills.
- Strong communication and motivating skills.
- Ability to take a whole-of-business view of people development.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound and timely decisions by quickly assembling facts and developing action priorities.
- Planning, budgeting, forecasting, consultant management, legislative compliance, stakeholder management, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex information.
- Ability to make effective and well-reasoned decisions.
- Ability to draft a business case, including identifying and tracking relevant metrics.
