About Geita Gold Mining Ltd

Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer, operating a single mining operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in South Africa, with operations in more than ten countries across four continents.

The mine is located in the Lake Victoria Goldfields of Northwestern Tanzania, approximately 85 kilometres from Mwanza City and 20 kilometres southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. GGML has its head office in Geita, about 5 kilometres west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and also maintains a supporting office in Dar es Salaam.

Objective of the role

The Coordinator 1 – QAQC will be responsible for performing and completing assigned tasks safely, using correct work methods and safety precautions, while meeting the required quality standards.

The role also involves ensuring that work is delivered on time and resources are used effectively.

Role accountabilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Working safely and in accordance with procedures and site safety standards.
  • Inspecting equipment for damages or defects, recording findings in registers, and escalating issues to the supervisor for planning or budgeting.
  • Executing mining equipment maintenance according to approved standards and procedures.
  • Repairing equipment and reporting completed work to Specialist 1 – Quality Maintenance.
  • Ensuring work meets OEM standards and supports equipment availability and reliability after release to production.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping practices.
  • Reporting unsafe equipment immediately.
  • Planning work before execution and carrying out assigned tasks effectively.
  • Meeting delivery deadlines to optimize the use of resources.

Role requirements

Education and qualifications

Applicants should have the following qualifications:

  • Form Four Certificate.
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • VETA Trade Test Certificate.
  • Valid Tanzania Driving License.

Experience

Applicants should have the following experience:

  • Five years or more of experience as a Mechanic maintaining CAT machines, Bell Trucks, Normet machines, Sandvik Machines, 170, RH 40 excavators, graders, DT10 dozers, and 336 excavators.
  • Proven troubleshooting and maintenance experience on CAT Equipment and Sandvik Machines.
  • Experience in driving Benz trucks, especially Actros, will be an added advantage.
  • Experience with Mercedes Benz Actros 3340 trucks.

Knowledge and skills

Applicants should demonstrate the following knowledge and skills:

  • Ability to read and understand maintenance manuals.
  • Ability to deliver quality workmanship.
  • Ability to complete equipment release checklists before equipment is released.
  • Ability to provide oversight for component rebuilds to ensure OEM overhaul standards are met.
  • Ability to support Rebuild Team Mechanics in following stripping, inspection, assembling, and testing procedures for component quality and reliability.
  • Diligent and accurate fuel management.
  • Teamwork and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adhere to company values and legal requirements.
  • No criminal record.
