Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for carrying out mechanical artisan duties related to diesel-mechanical locomotive maintenance and workshop operations. Key duties include:

• Maintaining rolling stock and locomotives.
• Maintaining workshop machinery and plants.
• Servicing refrigeration and air condition facilities.
• Servicing handling equipment and ancillary plants.
• Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

• Holder of a Form Four Certificate.
• Must possess one of the following qualifications:
  • Trade Test II
  • Level II
  • Level III
  • National Vocational Award II (NVA II)
  • Basic Technician Certificate (NTA Level 4)
• The qualification should be in one of the following fields:
  • Locomotive Engineering
  • Equivalent qualification from a recognized institution

Remuneration

Successful candidates will be paid according to the applicable salary scale:
