As part of a dynamic team, the Accounts Assistant will play an important role in ensuring that the department discharges its functions in a timely and professional manner.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage office expenditure and petty cash within the approved expenditure budgetary limits.
  • Play a vital role in the company’s financial management, including all account reconciliations and reporting to necessary parties.
  • Provide support and guidance to branch staff in their roles, including posting payments and posting transactions in the accounting system.
  • Assess and authenticate the integrity of company data posted by branches and the Head Office to ensure accurate reports.
  • Ensure accurate tax computation, timely tax filing, and payment of statutory obligations to maintain compliance.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations for all company bank accounts, M-Pesa accounts, including Paybill and Bulk accounts, and fund transfers.
  • Prepare and maintain the fixed asset register, schedules, and functions related to property, plant, and equipment.

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a business-related field.
  • CPA or ACCA certification, either completed or in progress.
  • Two to three years of relevant experience in Accounts or Finance.
  • Experience with different accounting software.
  • Hands-on experience in banking systems is an added advantage.
  • Experience in the microfinance industry will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.

  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software components, including computers, desktops, phones, and peripherals.

  • Assist in managing user accounts and access permissions, including creating, modifying, and deleting accounts as needed.
