REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST TO DESIGN, SUPPLY AND FIX WATER FILTERS IN SCHOOLS AND HEALTH CARE FACILITIES IN KISARAWE DISTRICT
Water Aid Tanzania invites experienced and reputable organizations to express their interest on design, supply and install water filters in 30 schools and 15 Health care facilities in Kisarawe District, Pwani Region.
The designed filters should be able to provide wide ranges of filtering capacity depend on number of students available in schools from 100 students to 2000 students in schools in cost effective manner.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SCOPE OF WORKS:
1.The works include design, supply and fixing of water filters in school and health care facilities.
Il. The design in schools will be determined by the number of students in schools while in Health cate facilities, will be based on health care staff and patients visiting the health care facilities (Annex 1)
Ill. Designed filters should ensure 99.9% virus protection (3 log removal) and 99.99% bacteria and protozoa protection (4 log removal).
IV. The Designer should provide the cost of the filters required to provide water quality art acceptable standard for a period of 5 years for the specified number of student in each school
V. The prospective supplier should be aware of limited or lack of electric power supply in targeted school and health care facilities
VI. The designed filters should fit the rural environment in terms of affordable in repair and filters replacement, easily maintained by local people, and can be easily scalable and adopted.
VII. Designed filter should be durable and have minimal environmental impact in terms of material used, recycling, reuse of parts of the filter and require as few consumables as possible, or none.
VIII. Designed filter should be able to meet the Tanzania National Water Quality Standards
IX. WAT to verify the quality of water from the filters after installation -before final payment from trusted laboratory.
X. The designer will be shared with the water quality results of specific schools and health care facilities for the design.
XI. Training of local operators/users to ensure sustainability of filters operation and efficiency should be provided
XIl. Indicate whether the filter require other infrastructures to constructed to function and associated cost.
XIll. Provide warranty period for the filter and services to be provided during the warranty period.
Minimum requirement:
Proof of registration with Tanzania revenue authority and clearance certificate for latest year available
Product approved certificate with EWURA/Ministry of water/TBS on the levels of removal of water contaminant (bacteria, chemical-contaminants, turbidity, organic-matter) in the water.
Previous experience on similar works providing clean and safe water to different institutions especially schools/health care facilities or other reputable public institutions.
Provided detailed requirement of Operation and Maintenance of the filter and associated cost in duration year, 3 years, and 5 years.
The minimum water consumption for drinking water for students in school and health care facilities patient to be l liters/day and 3litres respectively (12hrs per day).
+ Indicate the cost and availability of spare parts and probable parts replacement cost.

The deadline for submission of bidding is 3° October 2022 at 10:00am. Bids will be opened same day at 10:30 am public and in the presence of candidate’s representatives who choose to attend the opening at the WaterAid as per the address provided. :
